"To live is not just living but to live with life"
Girls' Generation had officially debuted as a nine-member group. Seven years later, that is unfortunately no longer the case...
During August of 2014, Jessica had personally asked her company, S.M. Entertainment, if she was allowed to start up her own fashion business, Blanc & Eclare. After getting permission from the company, as well as receiving loving support from the other members, she launched her business on August 6th.
A month later, on September 30th, 2014, Jessica was forced out of the group. The news was first revealed via her own Weibo account, and while a lot of people began spreading the rumour, people seriously took the situation when S.M. had later confirmed the news that Jessica would no longer be a part of Girls' Generation.
Soon after, S.M. released the music video for "Divine", which was Jessica's final appearance as a part of Girls' Generation.
From then on, the two sides went their separate ways. While Jessica focused on her business, Girls' Generation continued as an eight-member group. Even though Jessica was no longer a part of the group, she had never regretted being a part of it and had cherished every moment, She even said herself that being a part of Girls' Generation has helped her business.

One Year Later...
The Unfortunate Truth
Whether the truth will be revealed or not is a question that may never be answered. With "Divine" being Jessica's farewell song, sources suggest that due to her being in the fashion business in addition to being in the group, that led to both advantages and disadvantages for both sides.
"The truth always comes out in the end..."
Catch Me If You Can
During June 2015, a music video of the nine-member version of Catch Me If You Can was leaked. The actual single, (released on April 10), was originally believed to be Girls' Generation's first Japanese comeback since the departure of Jessica. However, this particular video proves that it may have been recorded prior to Jessica being dismissed from the group.
Life Afterwards
While it was a hard time for both Jessica and the remaining eight members of Girls' Generation, Jessica revealed how she thought of life after parting ways with the group. In addition to expressing how it personally gained more freedom and happiness, she also explained how she would have been restricted to certain things.
"If I were still a part of Girls' Generation, I wouldn't be able to participate in a photo shoot like today. Idol group members always have to be happy. Nice, pure and happy. But I'm already 27 and I can't always be that happy girl."
Never Gonna Look Back, Girls
On August 6th, 2015, it was revealed that Jessica was no longer an artist under S.M. Entertainment. After both parties had confirmed that the former singer had terminated her contract, they went off their separate ways.
The Return to Music
Pursuing her fashion career, Jessica signed under Coridel Entertainment. She made her solo debut in May 2016, with the mini album "With Love, J".
Rise of the Golden Stars
With Jessica's return to music comes the rise of a new fanbase, as it was officially revealed that Jessica's own fanbase would be called "Golden Stars".
Connection with Girls' Generation
Having gone their separate ways, Jessica revealed that she still keeps in touch with some of the members of Girls' Generation. Despite the departure, she continues to talk about how much they meant to her, as she still wishes the best for the group.
"It's a precious fate, something I had ever since I was little I guess. They are a precious existence to me. It's something I can't ever erase... We all dealt with it together after all, during both the good and difficult times."
